Literal Labs: Harnessing Arm’s Legacy to Forge AI Innovation

Literal Labs, once known as Mignon Technologies, is now spearheaded by former Arm executives Noel Hurley and Jem Davies. Hurley, bringing over two decades of experience from Arm, serves as CEO, while Davies, known for his leadership in Arm’s graphics and AI divisions, joins as a non-executive director. They aim to steer Literal Labs towards revolutionising the AI sector with Tsetlin machines, an energy-efficient alternative to neural networks. Tsetlin machines, rooted in propositional logic, are designed to perform complex AI tasks such as classification and regression with lower computational demands and higher interpretability. The technology, offering up to 1,000 times faster inferencing and 10,000 times less energy usage with hardware acceleration, represents a significant shift from traditional methods. As Literal Labs navigates market entry, its leadership underlines a strategy reflective of their Arm heritage—prioritising energy efficiency and scalable AI solutions.
